Viagra Ring Broken, China and US authorities

Custom officials in the US and in China have made major arrests in pharmaceutical smuggling rings, pharmacies closed

Counterfeit medications have made their way around the world, and now the world seems to be striking back as both the Chinese and American authorities are arresting those who have been shipping counterfeit medications. Counterfeit medications are not real medications; counterfeit medications are not up to the standards of those who approve medications, such as the FDA. Medications approved by the FDA carry the highest standards of safety for those who use them, but counterfeit medications do not meet the standards for those who finally receive those medications.

All toll eleven Chinese and one American have been arrested for the crime of smuggling counterfeit medications. These twelve people have been operating through eleven different countries, selling counterfeit medications and shipping medications all over the world to make money.

Counterfeit medications are similar to that of counterfeit money, you can’t really tell by looking at it, but counterfeit means that it really is fake after all no matter what price you are paying. Counterfeit medications generally sell for a price that is much lower than the ‘real’ medications sold in countries all over the world, which is really, what make these types of medications just so popular.

The ring of counterfeit mediations that the US and Chinese officials busted involved about four million dollars worth of fake medications. Four million dollars is a huge amount in medications that are not up to par for those who use these medications. Fake and counterfeit medications reaching the market, for those who think they are receiving the real thing, is a huge health risk to put any one through. Both the US and Chinese officials are diligent in fighting and over coming counterfeit medications for the best results for their citizens.

It is considered to be rare when both China and the US are fighting against similar topics in crime fighting, but this is a case that authorities from both countries took very seriously and will consider checking over for the future of their citizens. It may be considered something out of the ordinary, but China has been trying to retain its rights to privacy during this entire process for its government and its citizens alike.

Two of the highest trafficked medications include Viagra and Lipitor. These two medications are generally used by those people who are in general good healthy but when the medications are not real, it can cause disturbing problems in the long run.

The counterfeit drug ring wan run out of China, which is where the medications were both made and then, where the medications where sold over the internet, and then delivered everywhere in the world, with most sales occurring in the countries of Great Britain, Israel, and in the United States. Companies that manufacture the drugs were the first to tip off authorities with the giant Pfizer leading the way with information.

The arrests of those making the fake Viagra, and other medications, urged China to promise to put the counterfeiters out of business and to bring respect back to the country before the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This is a time when the focus on China will be great through all types of media, and the country does not want this counterfeit ring hanging over their heads. The arrests of those involved in this counterfeit ring were a prime example of crack downs on counterfeit products, similar to the crackdowns on counterfeit DVD’s which has been taking place in recent months.
